Travel Bags
Whether you are traveling local for a quick get away or abroad for a big vacation, the right travel luggage is essential. There are several types of travel bags available, each for a different uses. The following will give you a run down of each type of bag to help you determine what you need for your travel luggage on your next vacation.
The Carry-On Bag
I you are planning a trip that is more than two days or a flight, a carry-on bag is a good option. I love the lightweight softside carry-on bags with pockets. The softside usually has the option to expand the width by about an inch, which comes in handy if you pack a lot. It is also weighs less than the hardcover bags, but are still sturdy. The extra pockets in the front, is a great place to quickly store your drivers license, phone, or iPad when you need to make a purchase or check-in at the airport. Make sure you get a carry-on bag with rolling spinner wheels, so you can easily navigate the airport.
The Suitcase
For those longer vacations or traveling abroad, a good lightweigt softside suitcase is essential. I would choose the suitcase like the carry-on bag for the same reasons. It expands and is lighter weight than a hardcover. Like the carry-on, opt for one with the extra pockets in the front so you can quickly store your license, phone, or iPad. Again, make sure to get the spinner wheels.
You can usually find the Carry-on Bag and the Suitcase as a travel luggage set for a lower price rather than purchasing individually!
An Overnight Travel Bag
The overnight bag is a great option for just a short trip or as another carry-on bag. I love the ones with the extra shoe compartment on the bottom and pockets to hold your electronic devices. If you can find one with a pocket for your laptop, that’s even better. Make sure to purchase one with an adjustable shoulder strap, so you can carry it over your shoulder like a purse or across your body to more evenly distribute the weight.
The trolley sleeve on the side of the bag is a must! It will make it super convenient, as you can easily slip it over the handle of your rolling carry-on bag at the airport.
The Backpack
A backpack can be used for a variety of things including a carry-on bag, a purse, or a suitcase replacement. They are great for many types of travel because they are easy to carry and easy to stow. Backpacks can also come in many sizes depending on your needs. A small backpack is great for holding items from your purse and other items like a camera and an iPad. Bigger backpacks are good for holding a laptop or clothing for a quick overnight trip. If you are into the hiking, you may want to get a camping backpack to hold clothing and camping gear. Camping backpacks can get quite large, so if you are traveling by airplane check the size requirements for carry-on bags.
Crossbody Backpack
The crossbody backpack is much smaller and lightweight than a regular backpack making it more ideal for the tourist. It can easily fit an iPad, phone(s), camera, wallet, make-up, and other essentials in the main part of the bag. A small front pocket is great to store your phone or camera, so you can easily grab it when need, while keeping your wallet inside where it is more secure. The crossbody makes it much easier on your shoulders, at the same time, making it difficult for someone to snatch your bag.
Larger crossbody backpacks that will fit a small laptop are also available in select styles. Just keep in mind, whether you pack a iPad or laptop the weight of the bag will increase quite a bit.
Toiletry Bag
For the ladies, a toiletry bag is essential for the cosmetics, lotions, and hair supplies. Choose a toiletry bag with the hook on top, so you can easily hang the bag on a robe hook or towel bar, leaving extra room on the bathroom counter. Toiletry bags that fold or roll up can easily slide in your luggage rather than the cube shaped bags. Also, make sure to check the size of the bags, so you select the right one for you.
Jewelry Organizer Travel Bag
Keep your necklaces from getting tangled and other jewelry from becoming a mess by getting a jewelry organizer. Choose one that has snaps for necklaces, holes for earings, and few extra pockets for bracelets and pins, so everything stays in place when your travel luggage shifts. A jewelry organizer that folds or rolls-up are more compact and can easily slide into your suitcase or carry-on bag.

Passport Holder
If you are traveling abroad, a passport and vaccine holder is a fantastic option to keep yourself organized. Choose one with extra pockets for your drivers license, credit cards, and travel papers making it a great replacement for your wallet while you travel abroad. Many also have a small pen and mini pockets for sim cards.
